Mark One & Virus Syndicate (Planet Mu)
Mark One began producing music at 17 years old, originally making drum and bass before moving into the darker territories of dubstep and breakbeat garage. Heavily influenced by Oris Jay, Mark developed his bass heavy, mechanical sound and soon his music began to turn heads. When one of his earlier tunes was dropped at the legendary London breakbeat garage night, 'Forward', things started to move and Mark became accepted into the wider scene. He's since progressed to become one of the best grime producers in the UK with a nomination for best producer at the 2003 Sidewinder awards.
Mark has had releases on Polydor's P Records, Soulja, Tempa, Texture, Southside, Contagious and most notably on Rephlex's essential 'Grime' compilation. He records and plays out alongside production partners and MC's, The Virus Syndicate, fusing elements of hip hop with dubstep and drum and bass. Mark along with his MC team of Nika D, Goldfinger and JSD have taken their sound across the UK and Europe playing at high profile events including this years Sonar Festival and the One Nation festival in Germany. Rephlex recently took Mark One and Plasticman on tour to the USA where they rocked it! Most recently he recorded and put out his latest album, 'OneWay' through the Planet Mu imprint to critical acclaim.
