Debasser (Wide, Novamute)

Debasser is one of leading producers and pioneers of the UK Bass scene. He has been writing dance music since he first heard Harold Faltermeyer's Axel F and got his hands on an Amiga 500. His music covers various styles including electro, booty, techno and jungle, all of which help form the ethos of UK Bass. His first single Fat Girls was released in the US on Disco D's GTI Recordings and in Europe on Novamute in 2002 and the follow up single, the bass driven anthem Dark Smile was released on Novamute in 2003.

Debasser doesn't like to follow any convention in the way he approaches music. He relies mainly on 'from scratch' sound creation and inspiration rather than sampling leading to a style that is rhythmic, dirty and all of his own. His unique approach to production has been crafted over seven years and in his own words, he makes music that you can actually feel - meaning basslines that physically move you backed with a groove that bodies on the dance floor can't help but get into. His critically acclaimed first single Fat Girls found it's way into the boxes of premium disc spinners such as Richie Hawtin, Fat Boy Slim, DJ Hell and Ed DMX in addition to the cream of the US ghetto-tech set such as DJ Godfather and DJ Assault.

Debasser has been keeping himself busy over the last year. In between working on his music he has been developing his speaker busting live sets that have already been played out on Radio 1 as well as quaking major dance floors in Italy, Sweden and a variety of venues and nights across London including Haywire, Wang and 93 Feet East. He has also taken his distinctive set out of the capital to the world famous Blue Mountain Club in Bristol, Club 69 in Glasgow as well as being live resident for the UK Bass pioneering WIDE parties across the country.

Over the last two years Debasser has been busy playing his speaker busting live sets in Italy, Sweden, Bristol, Oxford, Glasgow and York. Debasser also runs Bootyquake, a monthly UK Bass night along with brother, Cutlass Supreme at the Dogstar bar in Brixton.
