Bitstream (Modern Love, Signal)
Bitstream is the project of brothers Steve and Dave Conner, born in the mid 70's in a small town in Northamptonshire, England. Originally championed by the seminal Skam label in Manchester and their pioneering Dj Rob Hall, the Conner brothers have been releasing innovative and complex electronic music over the last eight years to an ever-growing audience of dedicated followers.
With a formidable catalogue of releases to date for labels like City Centre Offices, Modern Love, Signal and their own Pylon Recordings, Bitstream transcend the confines of the electronic dancefloor through to a much broader spectrum of sound. The vinyl version of their first release, the Monolith EP released on the Signal imprint in 1997, is a true collectors item. Most recently, Bitstream have released material on Manchester’s excellent Modern Love imprint, kickstarting the label off in style with the critically acclaimed ‘Radiotherapy’ release.
In their time, Bitstream have taken their twin laptop live show all over the UK and throughout Europe taking in cities as far afield as France and Switzerland. Now it’s time for Manchester to feel the force, with the Conner brothers debuting material from their new long player, Domestic Economy 7, released in early 2005 through Manchester’s Modern Love imprint.
