Alpha 606 (Dopamine. Miami)
The Alpha 606 electro crew hail from Miami and over the last couple of years have developed their own style of electronic music fusing deep bass heavy electro with glitchy noise and live Afro-Cuban percussion. All the members of Alpha 606 are of Cuban descent and hope to bring about awareness of the struggle of Cuba in a creative and positive way. The group consists of Armando Martinez as the main songwriter and composer and non-touring members including Rey Rubio as a live performing sound engineer/mix mangler who runs individual channels of the sequences and percussion through effects, gates, compressors and delays and Marino Hernandez playing live percussion and complementing the machine rhythms being played perfectly.
In March 2004, Alpha 606 played their first live show in Miami. Some of their earlier work had already reached the ears of famed electronic producer Andrea Parker, who has worked with minimalist composer Phillip Glass. After hearing their work, Andrea agreed to fly down to Miami and play free of charge for the Alpha 606 12" release party. Alpha 606 has been through different incarnations but each time gaining another member to further explore their live set. They have performed with electro greats such as Soul Oddity, Carl Finlow, Exzakt, Ectomorph and experimental artist Machinedrum. Alpha 606 are signed to the independent Miami based label Dopamine and have recently got picked up by Syntax Distribution for their debut release 'Computer Controlled'
